Today we went to see the Room 6 Bottle Bivy. Josh and Callum explained how they have hot glued alot of bottles together in a circular shape. They wash each bottle and then they bundle them together until they are ready to use them. They told us how the first row was quite tricky because the bottles wouldn't stick to the carpet. They have made it about six or sevens rounds high now and they are starting to slope it in so they can begin to form the roof. It looked very cool and quite big!

Poem

Today we started writing poems about animals. Here is one from Cameron about Owl.

Flying quiet all the time
Must not land on the loud drop line
Come and retreat to your tree
Before the sunrise comes to see

Rugby at the Forsyth Barr Stadium

On Sunday I played at the Forsyth Barr Stadium. We played at half time during the North South game. We played against Heriot/Tapanui. I don’t know who won but I felt great all the time. My Grandad and Dad took me there.

On Friday some Room 5 and Room 4 children came into Room 3 because their teachers went with the Kapa Haka group. We had prayers together and then we finished off our pictures. My one was a Kiwi. Next we did a painting of the trees and bushes. After lunch we finished it all off and put it together.
I feel very good about my picture, I like the way I did the ferns.

Kapa Haka

On Friday we went on a bus with the Kapa Haka group to Middlemarch. The bus trip was long but fun.
We stopped for morning tea and we got to play in the playground.
After that we were welcomed into the hall. The group sang us some songs and did some actions.
When they sang we sang with them.
John and Chanse spoke  and gave a koha.
Next we walked into the school and we were given some sausages, cake and drink.
We had a play and we did some games like poi and rakau.  We all met on the court and sang together and then we got back on the bus.
We played I Spy on the way back.
It was a big, long, FUN day!

Room 3 Assembly

I was very proud of Room 3 today as we had very little time to get our Assembly together and the children all did very well.

For those of you who didn't get to see the Transit of Venus here is a picture of what we could see from our part of the country.
Venus is the wee black dot at the bottom of the sun.

Transit of Venus

Today we were lucky to see the Transit of Venus through our Solar viewers. We saw it move across the Sun. The next time it will happen is in 2117!!
It was great to see everyone wearing a hat today to support our Mufti-day for Neurosurgery.
